Product Review: Beauteaful Hairtox Tea, PretTeaful Hair Tea & Grolixir Week 8!

Well ladies (and gentlemen) I am at week 8 of my journey to healthy hair. I must say I am extremely happy at my results! I started to see hair growth at week 2 but now that I am at week 8, I see a substantial amount of hair growth and thickness.
In my previous blogs I talked about my struggle with Alopecia. My concern was not about hair length but it was about the spots where I was balding growing back. There are different types of Alopecia, and the one I've been suffering with was as a result of stress. When I found my spots I was devastated. The locations of the spots prevented me from wearing quite a few hair styles, including something as simple as wearing it up in a ponytail.

Week 1
Week 8

Today I am able to wear my hair in a ponytail freely and proudly. The hair at the nape of my neck has grown back almost 100%. The spot you see at the center is the last area to lose hair, so that is the last area that is growing back. In addition to the Beauteaful Hair Tea, the Grolixir with Stimucap was especially helpful in growing back my hair in those targeted areas.

Week 1
Week 8

This area (pics above) is my largest and most troublesome area. It is where I have seen the most hair loss. The size of this bald spot has prevented me from wearing my hair straight. One day I decided to blow my hair out and wear soft curls created from bantu knots. I went out looking cute on a beautiful, sunny day with my bouncy full hair. Despite my spots I got to a place where I was feeling really good about my hair... until the wind started blowing *insert gasp here*. I walked past a store where I could see my reflection through the window and there it was- my bald spot shining in the sun for all of the world to behold. Ironically, I was on my way to the hair show at the Jacob Javits Center, which is the place where I found these fabulous products from F.L.O.W. Industry. Needless to say on my way to the hair show, I fought back tears of embarrassment and defeat.
I could've refrained from showing these pics until there was more evident hair growth, but I decided to be transparent and post these pics as well. Why? I want you to see the reality of the process. Most times we want instant results, or instant gratification. We live in a society where if it doesn't happen immediately, then something must be wrong. On the contrary, the reality is, things of substance take time to manifest. With these products, everyone will have different results at different times and stages. The important thing to remember however, is that the results will come. It all depends on your hair issues, and the severity of it. For example, a person dealing with shedding will have different (and perhaps quicker) results with hair growth then someone experiencing balding. Also, a person who is experiencing hair loss as a result of medication may have a different result than someone who is suffering from hair loss as a result of stress.
In conclusion, if you haven't already, please read my previous blogs on my journey. I welcome any questions anyone may have on my progress. I do plan to give another update in 6-8 weeks, so look out for it. In the meantime, see below link to my F.L.O.W. page where you can order these great products. Take care, and take care of your hair!

Product Review: Prettea Hair Tea & Grolixir Week 4!!!

Every now and then a product comes along that lives up to the hype. Someone breaks a secret code that others haven't been able to, solving a problem that has been existing for years. F.L.O.W. Industry has done just that.
As I shared in my first video, when I found the bald spots in my hair I was HORRIFIED. Alopecia does not run in my family. My grandmother had a beautiful head of hair, and so does my mom and aunt. So when I came across my first bald spot back at the end of 2014, I cried. That spot (which was dead in the center of my head) grew back. I was so happy about that, until months later when I found another spot on the left side of my head, which expanded about 3 inches over time. I cried so much, which added to the stress that had caused the balding in the first place. I ran to vitamin stores looking for the strongest biotin pill that helped with hair growth. It seemed to be working until later on in 2015 I found another huge spot in the back near the nape of my neck. At that point I knew whatever was going on was stronger than the strongest biotin pills so I needed to see a physician. I went to the dermatologist, who officially diagnosed me with Alopecia and prescribed me a topical cream. He also gave me cortisone shots which were painful and annoying. Imagine getting constantly stuck with a needle throughout your head and then getting home to find blood on your scalp from the injections.
At some point between the painful injections, the bloody scalp and the COPAY I incurred every two weeks, I left the cortisone shots alone. I figured whatever happens, happens: If all of my hair falls out, I'll just get a wig and call it a day (of course I broke down in tears at the thought, but the constant dermatologist visits was getting to be too much).
Fast forward now to week 4... as I told you at week 2 I wanted to wait until week 4 so the results would be greater. I started to see hair growth at week 2 but the pics didn't give enough credit. See below for my hair pics at week 4!

Top: Week 1 Bottom: Week 4

Left: Week 1 Right: Week 4

Left: Week 1 Right: Week 4
My hair is fuller after 4 weeks, but I have so far to go! I wasn't concerned with length, as much as I was concerned with my hair growing back. Of course balding at this level takes time to grow back, but I'm glad to see that my hair follicles are coming through. I also noticed that I now have minimal shedding after washing my hair. I used to collect long strands of hair clumped up in my bathtub drain (followed by more crying of course) but now the shedding is very minimal, even with blowing my hair straight.
I am going to continue my hair journey so I will see you at week 8. If you are experiencing hair loss, shedding or limited growth, YOU NEED THIS PRODUCT IN YOUR LIFE! I believe in this product and the vision so much that I am now and independent distributor! See my links below. You can follow the I Design Beauty FB page for more information, and also go on to my F.L.O.W. Industry webpage to place your order today. I will be hosting events and parties in the NY Tri-State area to talk more about this product but in the meantime if you have any questions, please reach out to me!

Product Review: Beauteaful Hairtox & Grolixir Week 2

Two weeks ago I started my hair journey using two products from F.L.O.W. Industry. I began with the Beauteaful Hairtox Tea and the Grolixir Deep Penetrating Scalp Elixir. I must say after being only two weeks into my hair journey, I am extremely happy (and shocked).
I consider myself to be quite discerning with a few things, including gimmicks and products that do not live up to their own press and hype. While walking through the aisles of the International Hair Show in NYC, I saw the F.L.O.W. Industry booth from afar but didn't bother to visit. After doing laps around the Jacob Javits Center I decided to visit the booth and I am so glad I did! This product is indeed a God send. After trying multiple types of Biotin and hair growth supplements, I finally found a regimen that actually works.
I started with the Beauteaful Hairtox for seven days. The Hairtox is an all natural herbal tea that serves as a type of internal cleanser, ridding your body of toxins so it can absorb the nutrients which promotes hair growth. The tea tastes like normal herbal tea and is really good. I didn't add any sugar to the tea, as I didn't want anything to alter the ingredients. Unlike other detoxes this one didn't cause stomach cramping and multiple rushes to the bathroom. The detoxing process was normal from the sipping and ingesting, to the release of toxins.
I also used the Grolixir twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening) as directed. The Grolixir is very invigorating and I definitely felt the serum penetrating my scalp. I especially felt it after shampooing my hair. Using the serum while my pores was still open seemed like the finishing touch to my hair care routine. It's one thing to feel something is actually working for you, but it's another thing to actually see it work! I was so excited about the product I did check everyday, but just at two weeks I'm starting to see hair growth! (insert tears here).
I'm so excited about this product that I ordered the Prettea Healthy Hair Tea last week. I anxiously awaited its arrival and it arrived today! So I'll be starting my Prettea this week, and will be checking back in another two weeks with more results. I was going to do a side-by-side comparison at two weeks but I've decided to wait, as the pics don't give enough credit to the hair growth I am seeing- so I am going to wait until week four to do a side-by-side comparison... so stay tuned!

Product Review: Beauteaful Hairtox and Grolixir... The Journey Begins!

It is said that a woman's hair is her crowning glory. Whether it is short, long, or buzzed cut, or whether a woman is a red head, brunet or platinum blond bombshell one thing is for sure; women of all races and ethnicities take pride in their hair. Beauty salons are filled on Saturdays for us to see our favorite stylist. .*Women hold colorists in high regard, even referring them as if they are primary care physicians at your local hospital or doctor's clinic. We love hair and we love for our hair to look good.
I thought I had gotten to a great place in my hair journey. I got rid of my chemical relaxer and found my "rhythm" with a hair care product that worked well for me along with a weekly regimen. My hair was growing out very well until one day I was styling my hair and made a part down the middle. I was about 2 inches into parting my hair when I saw a huge gaping bald spot! *gasp.* I had never experienced balding, nor did it run in my family. My mother and grandmother have always had healthy, beautiful hair, so I couldn't understand what was happening. After some months my hair did grow back in that spot. I was so excited and thought it was just a fluke: only to find another bald spot some months later. This has been ongoing for some years now. To make matters worse, the bald spots grew larger and larger. One day I put my fears aside and saw a dermatologist who confirmed my fears: I had been suffering with Alopecia.

Alopecia is the medical term for baldness. Alopecia Areata is the most common type of hair loss, where the hair falls out then grows back in time. It is an autoimmune disease where the body fights against itself. Bald spots ranging from the size of a dime to as large as a quarter or half dollar will be seen. While Alopecia cannot be pointed to just one reason, many times people experience it due to heredity, illness, or the types of medications they're taking. my frustration was none of these reasons fit my situation. The only other reason that made sense was the severe stress I have been enduring.
I started to get Corticosteroid shots (which are painful and annoying) during doctors visits, and I was also prescribed a topical ointment to use daily. I saw some results but they were slow. I decided to add hair supplements I purchased from a vitamin store. It took some time to see results but I did. However, while I saw gradual hair growth in those bald spots, there were other bald spots popping up in different areas of my head. Needless to say, this made styling my hair a challenge so I started wearing crochet braids.
I recently attending the IBS Hair Show in NYC (this is the International Beauty Show for licensed cosmetologist, estheticians, salon and spa owners, etc.) I came across a booth that was selling an all natural product to promote hair growth. After talking to the reps for some time I decided to purchase to of their products. I purchased the PreTea Healthy Hair Tea, and the Grolixir deep penetrating scalp elixir. The PreTea is actually a detox tea to be used for 7 days. The tea consists of Peppermint, Chamomile, Lemon Peel, Psyllium Husk, along with other natural ingredients. The objective is to rid the body of toxins and prepare it to absorb these nutrients for hair growth. The Grolixir is a serum to be used twice a day in the trouble spots. This company has other products including supplement pills, a lemonade (which actually tastes pretty good), and a daily tea that is geared to promoting hair growth and combating hair loss.
I've stopped using my store-brought hair supplements and started my jouney on Monday March 8th. I will be blogging every two weeks to give an update on this product along with pictures of my progress. Let's see how this goes! Stay tuned... see you in two weeks!

Spring Cleaning Series: Knowing the Shelf Life of Your Cosmetics

Photo: www.pixabay.com

Spring is approaching so soon it will be time to switch your dark colored winter gear to a pastel, light spring wardrobe. The transition from winter to spring brings on the excitement of newness and change in the environment. Many people often take on the task of spring cleaning, which is a deep and thorough cleaning of your home to welcome the change of the season. During Spring cleaning one may even switch out winter interiors (curtains, bed linens, table settings, etc.) for light, airy upholsteries in pretty spring colors.
One of the areas of spring cleaning people often forget is personal care products, specifically cosmetics. With the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life, we often lose sight of the beauty products we have in our makeup bags and the date we purchased them. I remember going through my professional makeup bag to get ready for an upcoming wedding. When going through the bag I found bottles of expensive foundation in an array of shades, along with eye shadow and contouring palettes. Although they had been barely used, because I had them for so long, they had to be thrown away and restocked. You may be saying “well you didn’t really use them often, so what is the big deal in keeping them?”
Expired cosmetics can cause skin irritations and eye infections. This is because products can harbor bacteria due to the transference of germs every time they are used. Products can also grow mold if stored and kept in heat and humidity. Most people do not realize that most cosmetics are not required to have expiration dates on their labels. Before we go into how we can keep track of the date of purchases, let’s look at a timeline on how long you should keep your cosmetics.
Face makeup (foundations, concealers, etc.) can be kept for six months for liquids and up to two years for powders. The time span for powders is longer since powders do not consist of water, which is needed in order for bacteria to grow. Face makeup should be replaced after these times to avoid face breakouts and irritation.
Eye makeup (mascara, eyeliners and eye shadows) should be replaced every three months for mascara and liquid eyeliner, six months for cream eye shadows, but will last as long as two years for powdered eye shadows. Unlike powders mentioned above, mascara, liquid eyeliners and cream eye shadows can become breeding grounds for bacteria, based on use and time.
Lipsticks, lip liners and glosses should be replaced every year or two years. Lip liners will last longer since every time you sharpen your pencil you remove a layer of the old surface previously used. The top of lipsticks can be wiped to remove the previously used surface as well, but lipsticks can lose its shelf life depending on the ingredients it contains based on special effects (i.e. long lasting)
You may have that favorite eye shadow palette with your best spring colors that make you feel marvelous, or that special lip color that you couldn’t wait to wear this spring because you had so much fun with it last spring. Unfortunately, based on the time you purchased it, you may need to toss it and start anew. One way to keep up with your makeup is to use a marker (in a legible color) and write the date of purchase and the first date of use. It may seem like a lot, but you may not use that liquid eyeliner immediately after you purchase it. You want to make sure your dates are accurate.

With the price of makeup these days, no one wants to toss a seemingly perfect tube of lipstick or a half empty bottle of foundation in the garbage, only to turn around and purchase another in the next six months to a year. While this may seem wasteful, you may save money in the long run when you compare it to a copay for a doctors visit followed by a prescription fill, due to a skin irritation based on expired makeup.
